Watch: Whale freed after getting stuck in the River Thames

A small whale about 3 metres long was stuck in a part of the Thames river in London last night, with efforts to dislodge it continuing overnight.

The whale, which was reported to be of the minke species, managed to get out of Richmond lock in the early hours of this morning.

It is very rare for a whale to get so deep into the river. According to an official from the Port of London Authority, no whale has ever entered 90 miles inland.
