The public too can give a helping hand in the fight against modern slavery and human trafficking.
In light of this, the Malta Bankers’ Association, MBA, has put together an animated video clip to urge members of the public not to hold back from disclosing and putting a stop to these crimes.
The video explains, among others, how criminal groups worldwide kidnap men, women, and children and make them slaves in order to traffick them beyond frontiers for them to be exploited in other countries, including Malta. Victims who are subjected to abuse and violence, which includes rape and torture. These victims are detained in inhuman conditions and are forced to work for a low wage or even without any payment.
Modern slavery and human trafficking generate billions of euro and are among the biggest forms of illegal financing.
