Wife of “El Chapo” admits to helping husband with drug trafficking

The wife of Mexican drug trafficker Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman admitted in a US court to having helped her husband run the Sinaloa cartel.

Guzman is considered the world’s biggest drug trafficker and his Sinaloa criminal group are considered the strongest and the most dangerous both in the country and also in the world.

Emma Coronel Aispuro admitted to three counts of the charges: association with intent to traffick drugs, association in money laundering and negotiations for criminal activity with the same cartel.

31-year-old Aispurio has been found guilty nearly two years after her husband was jailed for life in connection with drug trafficking and possession of arms.

El Chapo’s wife, who holds both Mexican and US citizenship, was arrested in February. She will be sentenced on 15 September.
