Woman accused of fabricating story claiming to have given birth to ten children
A South African woman who claimed to have given birth to ten babies during one and the same pregnancy has been admitted to a mental hospital after being accused of fabricating the story.
Police officers arrested 37-year-old Gosiame Thamara Sithole at her relatives’ home in Johannesburg on Thursday morning, June 17.
She was detained after being reported missing by relatives of her former partner Teboha Tsotestsi.
The woman claimed to have given birth to ten children in a hospital in the city of Pretoria on the night of June 7.
She accused relatives of her ex-partner of trying to take donations from the public that had been given to babies despite their statement that the ten babies did not exist.
The existence of the ten babies has not yet been confirmed or denied, and the independent media, which has come up with the story, is accusing the authorities of a cover-up.
At the same time police are denying that the woman was arrested for this crime before she was given treatment by the country’s mental health authorities.
