A 45-year-old woman was arrested on Sunday shortly after she and her 13-year-old son allegedly carried out a robbery on three people.
Yesterday at around noon, the Police were called to assist following a report that a robbery was taking place in Triq Sir Luigi Preziosi, St Paul’s Bay.
Police officers from the Qawra Police station went on the scene where from initial investigations they learned that a woman and a boy who is still a minor had knocked on the door of a residence and began begging for money. One of the three elderly people who was at this residence opened the door and went inside to get some money. The woman went in behind her, grabbed some money which was on the table and fled from the scene with the boy.
Police from the Rapid Intervention Unit (RIU) immediately began searching for them and half an hour later they spotted two people who matched the description given by the victims. They were stopped at a Triq l-10 ta’ Frar, St Paul’s Bay, a search was carried out and the Police found the stolen money on the boy.
The woman was arrested and is expected to be arraigned in Court by the district police and police from the Major Crimes Unit today at around 10.30am, in front of Duty Magistrate Dr Ian Farrugia.
The Police, with the assistance of Aġenzija Appoġġ, took the boy to his relatives.
