Woman in danger of dying following fire at her house in Paola

A woman is in danger of dying after she sustained burns in a fire at her residence in Paola in the early hours of this morning.

The Police said that it was informed of the fire in Triq Ninu Cremona at around 3.10am.

When they went on the scene the Police found that the house was on fire and that a woman, 63, from Paola, had been burned.

A crew from the Department of Civil Protection was called to control the fire while an ambulance took the woman to Mater Dei where she was later certified to have sustained grievous injuries.

An inquiry was opened, led by Magistrate Caroline Farrugia who appointed various experts to assist her. Investigations by the district Police continue.
