Woman in danger of dying following involvement in Gozo traffic accident

A 59-year-old woman is in danger of dying after losing control of her vehicle.

The accident occurred at about 4.00 a.m. in St Catherine Street, Xewkija.

It results from preliminary District Police investigations that the woman, a Xewkija resident, appears to have lost control of the Nissan Almera vehicle she was driving, and ended up impacting with a wall.

An ambulance summoned to the scene transferred the woman to Gozo General Hospital for treatment. The woman was certified to be suffering from serious injuries.

The woman was later transferred to Mater Dei Hospital by helicopter.

Duty Magistrate Dr Paul Coppini was notified, and appointed a number of experts to assist in an inquiry.

Meanwhile Police investigations into the accident are ongoing.
