Desislava Vasileva Maksimova, a 49-year-old Bulgarian national who works as a maid, has been remanded in custody after being charged by Inspector Godwin Scerri with inflicting serious injuries with a knife on her partner.
Maksimova was also charged with having tried to conceal her crime, among others by giving a wrong version of the facts.
Defence counsel stated that it had been the man’s aggression which led to the crime which caused the woman to defend herself and requested bail under a number of Court-imposed conditions, but Magistrate Neville Camilleri stated that the Court was not convinced the Bulgarian woman would stick to bail conditions after the Prosecution objected to bail, as the woman lives in the same St Paul’s Bay residence with her partner.
