Works to start on regeneration plan for Birzebbugia

Infrastructure Minister Joe Mizzi has announced that work is to start on a regeneration plan for Birzebbugia.

Minister Mizzi said this plan will actively involve the Local Council and non-governmental organisations, and is being carried out with the residents being at the centre of the whole process. Minister Mizzi added that the work will include continuation of the Qajjenza project, where repairs are in hand to a wall along the length of the bay.

Minister Mizzi said Government had kept its promises by building a new football ground and a waterpolo pitch in just three years. The Minister also praised the Birzebbugia Historical and Cultural Society for its efforts on the Heritage Trail project.

The Society thanked Minister Mizzi for donating, on behalf of Government, old plans of the village, and added that a booklet is being launched in March about the culture and history of Birzebbugia, Borg in-Nadur and Ghar Dalam.
