After last year’s first-time organisation of the MUSIC+ Festival, this year Fondazzjoni Classique will be presenting a second edition from 27th September to 1st November and similar to last year’s edition this will consist of a number of recitals by local and international artists, master classes for different instruments, workshops for Primary School students, discussions and a children’s opera by children.
Three master classes for violin, piano and the clarinet will be organised. On 28th September at 9 am at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Seminary in Victoria, Gozo, international violinist Anastasiya Petryshak will be holding a master class in the instrument, while on the same day and at the same time pianist Lorenzo Meo will be giving a piano master class at the Gozo Ministry’s exhibition hall.
Petryshak has won various international competitions and has played at concerts throughout the world. Since 2017 she has been featuring in Pirastro and Evah Pirazzi Gold. She has also signed a contract with Sony and in 2018 issued her first CD titled “Amato Bene” where she played a Stradivarius “Il Toscano” of 1690.
Lorenzo Meo is an Italian pianist and composer. He has won various international competitions and has a Master’s Degree in chamber music from the St Cecilia Academy. Meo has performed in concerts in cities around the world.
On 19th October the celebrated clarinet player Corrado Giuffredi will give a master class in the instrument at the Gozo VPA School in Xewkija, starting at 9 am. Giuffredi is the lead clarinet player with the Swiss-Italian Orchestra and has played at international festivals and concerts throughout the world. He has also performed with the La Scala Orchestra and has worked with celebrated maestros such as Muti and Barenboim. He has also recorded various CDs with EMI, Decca, Arts, Fonè and Stradivarius. Giuffredi teaches at the Istituto Musicale Superiore in Modena and is often invited to conduct master classes throughout world.
