Youth admits to involvement in Kerċem theft

A 22-year-old youth from Ħal Balzan has been conditionally discharged after admitting to being involved in the theft of a motorcycle in Kerċem.

The youth was arraigned in the Gozo Court, Magistrate Brigitte Sultana presiding, and charged with having, on 20 June, stolen a Honda motorcycle and other items including keys, registration plates, bank credit cards and tools.

The youth was also charged with receiving or purchasing items which had been stolen or acquired through crime, and with involving himself in selling the items or passing them on. Accused pleaded guilty, and was given a conditional discharge covering a three-year period.

Police officers from the Violent Crimes Squad within the Department of Major Crimes, together with officers from Gozo District, yesterday arrested a 19-year-old youth in connection with this theft.

The prosecution was conducted by Inspectors Mario Xiberras and Bernard Charles Spiteri.
