Youth caught driving without licence – alleged that police placed drugs in his car

22-year old Tyrone Difesa from St Julian’s was arraigned in Court after being caught driving without a licence and insurance, and in possession of suspected drug substance in his car.

Difesa had 262 kg of cannabis, however he alleged in Court that the Police had placed the drugs in the car. He threatened officers that when he is out of prison, he will send people looking for them.

Difesa denied threatening three police officers. The prosecuting officer objected the defence request for his release from custody due to the nature of the crimes and because this was the second time that the youth was caught driving without a license and that he relapsed on a drug suspended sentence.

The Court denied the accused request and issued a protection order for the three policemen.
