Mistaken date in bail of man accused of theft leads to his liberation from all accusations

Mohamed Abdulmajeb Abungab, who is 23-years-old and resides in Gżira, was arraigned in Court after he breached bail conditions when he went out at a time when he should have remained at home.

Abungab was bailed during a case in which he was accused of theft last year but also of having threatened Police officials, of driving with a licence, of being in possession of a penknife without permission and of being a repeat offender.

However, when he appeared in Court in front of Magistrate Donatella Frendo Dimech, before she passed sentence, the Magistrate observed a mistake had been made in the date when the accused had been granted bail and as a result of this conflict the Court had to liberate the accused from all charges against him.
