Two men detained under arrest after drugs find

Two men have been detained under arrest after they were found to have 1.5kg of cocaine and 11.5kg of cannabis plant in their possession. The accused, Tomislav Hegedus (27) from Mosta and a man aged 33 from Ħamrun whose name cannot be published by Court Order, appeared separately before Magistrate Josette Demicoli.

Police Inspector Kevin Pulis said their arrests had been carried out after they were observed over a number of days. The Police Anti-Drugs Squad was also involved in their arrests when the 33-year-old man from Ħamrun was stopped while on his way to Fgura. A search in his vehicle found capsules filled with cocaine ready to be trafficked.

A search in the man’s Ħamrun garage resulted in various packages and about 11.5kg of cannabis plant. The Prosecution testified that Tomislav Hegedus was the person behind the drugs trafficking.

Inspector Pulis said it would be premature to grant the accused bail because the Police are still carrying out investigations into the whole case to solve it properly.
