The Gaulitanus Choir’s 2017-18 artistic season comes to an end with A Guitar Recital featuring acclaimed Italian guitarist Fabio Barbagallo. The recital is being held on Friday 13th July at 20.00hrs at the gorgeous medieval St Cecilia Chapel, l.o. Ghajnsielem, courtesy of Wirt Għawdex.
Sicilian-born Barbagallo is amongst the Italian guitarist of his generation most active on the international scene, having performed worldwide – whether throughout all Europe, North and South America, or the Far East. He is also a composer with works published and recorded for Milan´s Edizione Musicali Sinfonica. He is also the founder and artistic director of the Solarino International Guitar Festival.
The highly varied programme includes work from Renaissance composer Pietro Paulo Borrono da Milano, Baroque Czech master John Anton Logy, Romantic virtuoso Niccolò Paganini, contemporary Jazz-influenced French composer Thierry Tisserand and very well-known Argentinian Maximo Diego Pujol. To add some more spice, some Sicilian folk dances will also be played.
Organized in collaboration with the Associazione Amici della Musica and the Solarino International Guitar Festival and artistically directed by Gaulitanus Choir founder-director Colin Attard, entrance to the concert is free.
