Watch Christabelle delivering #Taboo’s message

Watch Christabelle speech at the Global Citizen event:-

Christabelle, took an unlikely stage on Tuesday when she performed at the Houses of Parliament in London.

Christabelle caught the attention of the anti-poverty organisation Global Citizen through her campaigning on mental health, leading to the invitation to perform at the event at Westminster, in the presence of Commonwealth ministers.

Christabelle’s Eurovision song “Taboo” is about breaking down the barriers surrounding mental health so that people don’t suffer alone. She has also been appointed by the President of Malta, Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca, as Ambassador of the President’s Foundation for the Wellbeing of Society on Mental Health.

She performed an acoustic version of “Taboo” live, together with a guitarist, during the drinks reception at the Houses of Parliament.

The event was called “‘Girls in Emergencies: How the UK and the Commonwealth are empowering girls in times of crisis” and is designed to bring together UK politicians, influencers, and decision-makers, to highlight the urgent needs of girls in times of conflict.

Leaders from more than fifty countries are gathering in London for the first Commonwealth Head of Government Meeting since the Malta CHOGM in 2015. The event was addressed by the UK Foreign Secretary, Boris Johnson, and the Australian Minister for Foreign Affairs, Julie Bishop.

Christabelle will perform in the second semi final of the Eurovision Song Contest in Lisbon on Thursday 10th May and, if she qualifies, in the final on Saturday 12th May.
