Eleanor Cassar has been in the music scene for the past 25 years, in which she participated in many national and international Festivals and musical events. Her career highlights include winning the National Festival L-Għanja tal-Poplu in 2000. In 2001 she received the Most Promising Artist Award at the Malta Music Awards . She also won the Konkors Kanzunetta Indipendenza in 2005 and the Malta International TV Song Festival in 2006. On an international level she placed first in the Discovery Song Festival in Bulgaria in 2001, won the Grand Prix in the Golden Stag International Festival in Romania in 2004, placed first in the Astana International Festival in Kazakhstan and in 2007, received the Gold Award at the Universong Festival in the Canary Islands, was chosen twice as winner of the FIDOF award and placed 1st runner up in the Malta Eurovision Song Contest back in 2009. Eleanor also released two albums – ‘A Voice’ 2005 and ‘Signify’ 2010.
After 5 years of absence from the Eurovision scene, this year Eleanor felt she is ready to make a strong comeback, thus she is very looking forward to perform and re-live the emotions of the MESC stage. This is going to be her 10th participation in the final and her aspiration is to give the Maltese audience yet another unforgettable performance, hoping to win the hearts of the public and make her dream a reality – that of representing her country in the Eurovision song contest.
Eleanor’s music is inspired by various international singers such as Whitney Houston, Celine Dion and Beyonce . She is overwhelmed with the positive feedback she has been receiving from her fans who have been longing for her return for quite some time. She is utterly grateful for their continuous support together with her family’s and her husband’s support along the years. Eleanor’s entrance this year is relatively very different in style than previous years, and although challenging, she feels it brings the best out of her voice and personality. This contest was an essential part in her musical career and, having participated several times, Eleanor is preparing herself very well for this journey. Eleanor believes that the Eurovision Song Contest is one of the largest platforms to showcase any Maltese artist, and she feels very lucky to have been given the opportunity to once again be part of it all.
