PBS and EBU welcome Montenegro as a new member to debut at this year’s Junior Eurovision festival. The national broadcaster of Montenegro Radio i Televizija Crne Gore (RTCG) has confirmed all the paperwork for participation in the 12th annual Junior Eurovision Song Contest, set to take place in the Mediterranean islands of Malta.
Filip Vučić represented the union of Serbia and Montenegro in Junior Eurovision 2005, which was held in Belgium. This will be the first entry for Montenegro since it became an independent country in 2006.
“I’d like to welcome Montenegro to the Junior Eurovision family,” says Executive Supervisor Vladislav Yakovlev. “They qualified to the Eurovision Song Contest final for the first time this year, and I hope they will also enjoy the experience of participating in Junior Eurovision as well.”
Details concerning how the singer and song will be chosen will be communicated by RTCG at a later date.
Montenegro is the second country to debut in the competition this year, after Italy also announced their first participation.
