HMS Illustrious sailed into the Grand Harbor this morning with some 12,000 members of the Royal Navy on board.
HMS Illustrious berthed at Pinto Wharf, and will be open to visitors on November 21 and 22, between 1p.m. and 4p.m.
HMS Illustrious, commanded by Captain Martin Connell R.N., will be in Malta as part of the UK task response group commanded by Commodore Paddy McAlpine R.N. along with three other ships: HMS Bulwark, RFA Mounts Bay and MV Hartland Point.
The name HMS Illustrious enjoys also historical connections with Malta.
It berthed in Malta after months of training in the Mediterranean, complementing a fleet of six navy ships.
