Five cars were extensively damaged when a horse drawing a cab bolted today at about 11 a.m., in Triq il-Mediterran, Valletta.
Preliminary investigations by the Police found that the horse, which was injured in the accident, was tied to the column of a horse cab shelter when it bolted. Attempts by the cabby, 35, residing in Birkirkara, to restrain it were futile after it ripped the reins and bolted.
Disoriented, the horse crashed into a car driven by a man, 59, residing in San Pawl il-Bahar, who subsequently collided with a another car driven by a man, 48, residing in Fgura.
The horse then slipped and skidded into another car driven by a man, 38, residing in Zebbug, before rearing and wedging itself between two parked cars, where it fell and was restrained.
