Id-Deputat PM ta’ New Zealand jgħid li l-istat kien ilu jipprova jiddeporta lit-terrorist tas-supermarket

B’rabta mal-attakk terroristiku f’supermarket fi New Zealand, id-Deputat Prim Ministru, Grant Robertson, qal li l-istat kienu ilu jipprova jibgħat lit-terrorist, Ahamed Aathil Mohamed Samsudeen, lura pajjizu snin sħaħ waqt li kien qiegħed jipprova jżomm l-istatus ta’ refuġjat tiegħu.

Il-proċess għad-deportazzjoni kien inbeda wara li kien kiseb status ta’ refuġjat permezz ta’ frodi.

Id-Deputat Prim Ministru qal li wara dan l-attakk, il-Gvern ta’ New Zealand ser ikun qiegħed isaħħaħ il-liġijiet kontra t-terroriżmu fix-xhur li ġejjiin, biex ikun aktar faċli biex persuna tinstab ħatja li kienet qiegħed tippjana attakk terroristiku.

“At every opportunity we have been looking for ways to deport this individual. In the very first briefing that the Prime Minister is aware of getting in May 2018, she raised the issue of deportation. Deportation is a long process generally. We have to bear in mind, we are talking here about a person who had refugee status and while you are aware of it, there’s a process that went on about revoking that. We still have to go through the processes, the government is not above the law and we needed to go through that.”
