The pre-budget public consultation process started yesterday evening as Minister Edward Scicluna said that the Budget will propose funds for a reform in the justice system including the creation of new courts. Minister Scicluna said that the budgeting for this aspect is being based on the principle that time is money and so, the investment is justified.
A comment from the floor was made on the need to strengthen the number of VAT inspections. Minister. Scicluna said he was surprised when he saw VAT inspectors at work during the feast of St Helen. He said that while he did not intervene, he believed that there was a time and place for everything. He said that this may have been a routine inspection but if not, people would feel discriminated.
